The North Carolina Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is pleased to announce its 2026 Scholarship Program. COMTO is a national, non-profit organization founded in 1971. For 55 years, COMTO has been committed to connecting untapped talent to opportunities, elevating all lived experience at the decision-making table, and promoting engaged and thriving communities. COMTO is committed to the professional, educational, and business development of its members. The COMTO North Carolina Chapter plays a vital role in fostering these goals across the state to ensure transportation service all. COMTO North Carolina has established an annual scholarship awards program and believes education is a core foundation for excellence in the transportation industry. Our scholarship program is committed to helping the next generation of transportation professionals realize their educational potential through financial support. SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION:
COMTO North Carolina will offer five (5) scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving students in the state. Selections are made by a team of industry professionals and/or representatives from the academic or transportation community. Applications will be accepted through June 19, 2026.
ELIGIBILITY AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Graduating High School seniors, undergraduate or graduate students, community college students and vocational-technical school students enrolled in an accredited college, university, community college or vocational-trade school with demonstrated intent to pursue a career in a transportation industry-related academic program. All eligible students are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to describe their personal and professional career goals in an essay (See Career Interest Essay requirement, Item B, page 5).
2. Applicants must either be a resident of North Carolina or attend a college or vocational-technical school in North Carolina.
3. High school graduates or college students with a verified GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for Fall 2026.

6. Winners are required to attend the COMTO North Carolina Scholarship Award Event.
