COMTO Connecticut 2025 Year in Review: Celebrating A Decade of Impact, Leadership, and Community

Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence: As we begin a new year, COMTO Connecticut proudly reflects on a remarkable milestone — our 10th anniversary. The year 2025 marked a decade of dedication to empowering untapped talent, leadership, and opportunity within Connecticut’s transportation industry. This milestone was celebrated in November with our 10th Anniversary Celebration and Inaugural Scholarship Gala, where we honored our founding Board members and recognized our 2025 scholarship recipients. The evening served as both a celebration of our history and a recommitment to our mission. Through generous support and fundraising efforts, the chapter raised approximately $4,000 to continue investing in future transportation leaders.

Investing in Leadership & Professional Growth: 2025 was also a year of new initiatives and impactful partnerships. COMTO CT successfully launched its pilot Leading with Purpose Mentoring Program, a six-month professional development experience designed to equip transportation professionals with leadership skills, knowledge, and meaningful connections. The graduation of the inaugural cohort of 18 transportation professionals marked a major step forward in leadership development for our chapter.

In partnership with CMAA Connecticut, COMTO CT hosted “Bridging the Gap: How to Get the Most Out of Your Mentor/Mentee Relationships,” an engaging conversation on practical ways to build impactful mentoring programs in the workplace.

Community Outreach Juneteenth

Community Engagement & Public Impact: Community outreach remained a cornerstone of COMTO CT’s work in 2025. Through a partnership with the Greater Hartford Transit District (GHTD), the chapter participated in the Town of Bloomfield’s Juneteenth Festival, connecting with residents to share information about local public transportation services, ADA paratransit options, and CT Rides programs supporting safe and efficient travel by carpool, transit, biking, and walking. These efforts reinforced COMTO CT’s commitment to ensuring transportation systems serve all communities, particularly those most vulnerable.

National Representation & Industry Leadership: COMTO Connecticut was proudly represented at COMTO National’s 54th Annual Conference in New York City. Chapter leaders and members contributed to important discussions on how the Connecticut Department of Transportation is actively engaging communities where they are, during the development of transportation improvements, to make sure social and cultural needs, as well as accessibility for our most vulnerable users are addressed.

Fall Networking

Meaningful Conversations & Networking: In October, COMTO CT welcomed Lisa Rivers, Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Transit Administrator, for an insightful networking event. Ms. Rivers shared her career journey and offered valuable perspectives on upcoming initiatives in the public transit sector, inspiring meaningful dialogue among attendees.

Looking Ahead to 2026: As we move into 2026, COMTO Connecticut remains focused on empowering future leaders and strengthening our impact statewide. The chapter will be holding an election for a new Executive Board, and members are encouraged to step into leadership roles to help shape the future of transportation in Connecticut. More information on the election process will be shared soon.
Thank you to our chapter leaders, members, sponsors, and partners for making 2025 an unforgettable year. Together, we continue to build a transportation industry that reflects and serves all communities.

We believe that all lived experience moves the world.

We believe that the leadership of a massive industry that has the responsibility of transporting all people all the time should reflect the communities they serve.
