COMTO NorCal invites you to a webinar with the Transbay Joint Powers Authority. Join us for information and updates on TJPA’s Downtown Rail Extension / The Portal, as well as a procurement update and opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), Historically Under-utilized Businesses (HUB), and Small Businesses.
The Portal, also known as the Downtown Rail Extension (DTX), is a transformational infrastructure investment that will extend Caltrain commuter rail from its current terminus at Fourth and King streets in downtown San Francisco to the multimodal Salesforce Transit Center. Ultimately, it will also deliver the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s future high-speed rail statewide service to the Salesforce Transit Center, connecting San Francisco to Anaheim/Los Angeles. This transformational infrastructure investment is delivering on the decades-long promise of bringing communities closer, reducing climate change impacts, and providing Bay Area residents with better access to jobs, housing and economic opportunities.
Consisting of an estimated two miles of construction, the 1.3-mile rail extension will be constructed principally below grade using cut-and-cover and mined tunneling methods underneath Townsend and Second Streets. The project includes an underground station at Fourth and Townsend streets, six structures for emergency exit and ventilation along the alignment, utility relocation, and rail systems work.
